Acceptance is still a far-off reality, and here is concrete evidence of that. A woman in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, reportedly changed her gender when her family disapproved of her relationship with a “woman.”
When their families rejected their relationship, one of the two decided to undergo a sex-change surgery to be with her girlfriend. The pair decided to take a perverse path to realize their “happy ever after” to avoid the disapproval of their relatives.
A medical team, at Prayagraj’s Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, carried out the sex reassignment procedure. The woman underwent restructuring and had her upper body parts altered. The medical professional attested that the full procedure would take 1.5 years.
The woman will receive testosterone replacement therapy, according to Dr. Mohit Jain. The testosterone therapy will promote chest hair development. He further affirmed that following the sex-change procedure, the woman would not be able to become pregnant.
He said that this was the first time that such a surgery had been carried out and that it would take about 18 months to finish. She passed a thorough health examination and is in good condition.
