Watch: Policeman, wife on scooter fall in drain amid waterlogging in UP

Drain water clogging and rainwater filling up the roads are nothing new to India. Many suffer due to such situations. A cop and his wife also became a victim of this poor waterlogging condition in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh. The two were riding a two-wheeler through a road filled with knee-high water when their vehicle fell headlong into a drain inundated with rainwater.

Reportedly, the two got a little injured in the incident.

During the time of the incident, the cop, with his wife riding the pillion, was going to a hospital in Aligarh.

The entire incident was recorded on a CCTV camera in the nearby shop. The video was then circulated widely on the Internet.

The clip shows, the cop navigating through the waterlogged road when the front wheel of his vehicle hit something, and the couple fell into the drain water.

Soon after, bystanders rushed to rescue them.

Shared on Twitter by retired IAS officer, Surya Pratap Singh, the caption in the video reads, “#UP’s smart city Aligarh. Who should we thank.”

As per the reports, the policeman, Dayanand Singh said that they were on the scooter and were going to a hospital. “Since the drain was open and inundated due to rainwater, we didn’t come to know about it and fell into it along with the scooter. We both sustained some injuries” the cop further stated.

Reportedly, the sewer lines were open and choked.
