In a heart-touching incident, a baby elephant was rescued by forest department staff and local villagers in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh. The baby was part of a large herd who got trapped while drinking and bathing in Lailunga and Gharghoda forest ranges.

In the footage, young elephant was seen struggling to come out and its calls echoed through forest. Villagers noticed the shriek and alerted the forest officials. Villagers and forest officials together created a path for baby elephant to escape.

The villagers and officials created a pit by using shovels and JCB machine. Baby elephant was free from the mud pit. In a heartfelt display, calf approached the JCB machine and even touched it. It also attempted to hug it, before re-joining its herd.

This heart-warming moment was captured on camera and has gone viral on social media. Users have left loving messages widely. The video shows a deep bond between the elephant and humans and how the young animal appreciated the help it received.
