Nivrutti Shinde, a 93-year-old villager, had gone to a jewelry store along with his wife Shantabai to purchase a mangalsutra, an ancient symbol of marriage. The staff of the store initially believed that the old couple was looking to accept charity, but they were brought to tears when Nivrutti broke into his real motive.
The husband-wife duo from Ambhora Jahagir village of Jalna district were going on foot to Pandharpur on pilgrimage for the festival of Ashadhi Ekadashi. Locals know Nivrutti and Shantabai to be inseparable, and they have been going all places together. The owner of the shop was very moved by Nivrutti’s action and offered to gift the mangalsutra, taking just Rs. 20 as token money.
“I was flooded with his devotion and affection,” the shop owner described. “I simply took Rs. 20 from him as a blessing and returned the mangalsutra.” The video of this lovely moment has collected over two crore hits on social media with people going on and on about the couple’s strong love and the shop owner’s generosity.
