Viral video of elderly man littering at Railway platform sparks debate on civic responsibility
A video of an elderly man littering on a railway platform has sparked debate on civic sense, public cleanliness, and responsible behaviour in public spaces.
The social media has recently seen a viral video where an old man was spotted throwing away the banana peels of his eaten bananas on the railway platform.
As the man could be seen sitting near a stationary train, he was throwing out the peels from the track instead of the dustbin.
However, when the video maker asked him not to throw garbage from the track and to use the dustbin to dispose of the waste, the man was not convinced at first.
Nevertheless, upon many requests, he was seen picking the banana peels up and disposing of them in the dustbin located on the railway platform.
More than 1.5 million likes and thousands of comments that the video received highlight the issue. Social media users said, ‘This kind of behavior with people should continue to educate others.’
Other commented, ‘Very respectfully he made that person understand not to litter on the platform and throw in a garbage. Well done’ .
Some added, ‘These kind of actions by people in public are really embarrassing.’
This incident again brings attention to the fact that modern buildings or infrastructure are only one step towards the progress. Our behavioral habits have a far-reaching impact on society as well.
