US woman calls healthcare system a ‘Scam’ after buying cheaper Indian altenative

An American woman’s social media posts have gone viral after she revealed that a medicine would cost nearly $1000 (Rs 85,000) but was available to her at $25 (Rs 2,100 including shipping) through a manufacturer in India.
In an Instagram reel, the American stated that her health insurance provider refused to cover the medication and that she would have to pay a large amount out of pocket. Her doctor, while searching for alternative solutions, allegedly told her to procure it through Canadian pharmacies, which further source it from India.
The medicine actually costs $10 and $15, as international shipping costs, according to the woman who questioned why the same drug costs hundreds of times more in the USA. She called the USA’s healthcare system a “scam”.
Her video spread like fire online, and soon other users shared similar stories regarding the prices of medicines and the costs of healthcare. Several people referred to India’s prominent position in manufacturing cheap generic medicines, which are then exported worldwide.
Other topics include how American health care compares to that of different nations. Such posts have been seen several times in recent months regarding India’s health care and medicine availability being cheap compared to other Western countries and the USA.
