Tamil Nadu Police Constable Accused of Sexual Abuse on Train
Coimbatore City Police has suspended the Head Constable until completion of the inquiry, strict actions will be taken if the allegations are proven right says the officials.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu cop accused of sexual abuse by a law student in the moving train from Chennai to Coimbatore City. Both the head constable and a law student are reportedly the passengers of the same train. The student accuses the constable for touching her inappropriately.
The student showed remarkable presence of mind by recording the incident on her phone immediately and instantly alerted Railway Police Force while the train was still enroute to Coimbatore.
Railway authorities stopped the train at Katpadi junction, where the case was registered and is currently being handled by the railway police. They are conducting an inquiry and will proceed with legal action as per the law. As soon as information regarding the allegation was received, departmental action was initiated against the Head Constable (who is) attached to the RS Puram Police Station.”
Statements from the young woman and witnesses are being recorded.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage and renewed concerns over the safety of women in public spaces in the state, particularly ahead of a critical Assembly election early next year.
Officials from the home department have also been informed and further investigation regarding the matter is underway.
The video has been uploaded on X by @SSNEWSDigital in which the policeman’s inappropriate actions are recorded clearly with his face and has received numerous views and comments.
