A dramatic video of water violently sloshing out of a swimming pool during Monday’s powerful earthquake in the Philippines has gone viral on social media.
The clip, posted this evening to X by user ‘Bengal’s Untold Tales’ on a parody account, has drawn wide attention for capturing the raw force of the tremor.
The caption reads: “Pool in Davo City, Philippines during the M7.8 earthquake on June 8, 2026.”
In the footage, believed to be shot from the front seat of a vehicle, the pool water can be seen splashing high and waving erratically from side to side as the ground shakes.
The pool is set in a green, tree-lined area with what appears to be a ‘soul tent’ visible in the background.
The violent movement of the water is a common visual effect during strong quakes, caused by seismic waves passing through the ground.
A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck off the coast of Mindanao in the southern Philippines early Monday, June 8, 2026, at 7:37 a.m. local time. The epicenter was located about 32 km southwest of Maasim town in Sarangani province at a depth of 33 km. people. Davao City felt the quake at Intensity V, with classes and government work suspended as aftershocks continued.
