Rare sight of King Cobra swallowing another Cobra will make you awestruck

Nature is a fascinating thing – mysterious and full of wonder which often shocks people’s minds. Recently, a rare stunning photo of a king cobra eating another cobra has created thrill on social media.

Indian Forest Service (IFS) Officer Parveen Kaswan has clicked the photo himself and shared it on his twitter account. Usually, IFS Kaswan keeps sharing interesting science facts online, along with raising awareness about forest and conversation.

“Ophiophagus hannah. A king cobra eating a spectacled cobra. They feed on lesser mortals,” he captioned the picture.

He also explained the term ‘Ophiophagus Hannah’ and said that the scientific name of this king cobra is Ophiophagus hannah.

“Ophiophagus is derived from Greek, meaning ‘snake-eating’ and hannah is derived from the name of tree-dwelling nymphs in Greek mythology. So king living true to its name. The only snake which build nests,” he added.

He also adds another fun fact about King Cobra is that majority of their diet consist of other snakes.

The king cobra is the world’s longest venomous snake, with an average length of 3.18 to 4 metres, reaching a maximum of 5.85 metres.

The stunning photo has gained a lot of attention over social media. While some users admired his photography skill, others were surprised to know about the fact on King Cobra.
