Pakistan: Recently, Pakistani TikTok star Imsha Rehman became the unfortunate victim of breach in privacy as an explicit video featuring her started circulating on social media. In the video, Rehman appears to be in a compromising situation and has been fetching attention on multiple social media platforms as well as across various WhatsApp groups.
After deactivating her account, this Tik Tok star came up with her take on the controversy, posting in her TikTok bio, “Jab tak video viral hai maine ne ID off kar di hai”, which translates to “till the time video is viral, I have deactivated my account.”
It bares an uncanny resemblance to the furore surrounding fellow Pakistani TikTok sensation Minahil Malik, who was also recently called out for a backlash in October when a leaked video of intimate moments with her boyfriend began to go viral. Many have since accused her of having willingly leaked the video as a publicity stunt to garner attention and more followers. Pakistani actor Mishi Khan slammed Minahil saying that she is ambitious to gain popularity with such shameful means and compared it to a scene from the Kareena Kapoor starrer Bollywood movie Heroine.
The controversy has kept Rehman’s TikTok and Instagram accounts in deep freeze. Such cases of cyberbullying and invasion of privacy would put the lives of social media influencers to threats.
Reactions have been mixed towards Rehman’s video, with people feeling sympathetic towards her, while others blame her for leaking it for the sake of fame. The case of Imsha Rehman has been compared with Minahil Malik as well, as people wonder about the leakage incident. There is a question about the leakage, but the damage that has been done to Rehman’s personal as well as professional life is pretty severe.
