A tragic accident occurred in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district, where a snake lover died after being bitten by a venomous cobra. Deepak Mahavar, a contractual staff member at JP College, was a snake rescuer and had allegedly rescued thousands of snakes. He had only caught the cobra recently and intended to showcase it during the next month’s Shravan procession.

A chilling video going viral on social media shows Deepak, who was riding a bicycle with the cobra coiled around his neck in the form of a garland. This act of utter carelessness turned deadly when the snake unexpectedly bit him. Even after antivenom was administered to him, the delay in seeking medical attention made it useless, and Deepak died due to the venom in the process of treatment.

It was a known fact that Deepak loved handling snakes, and he would go out of the way to do so. On this fateful day, too, he had wrapped the cobra around his neck while taking his kids to school. The accident has orphaned his two sons, Raunak (12) and Chirag (14), since their mother had died earlier. The unfortunate incident is a reminder of the risks involved in handling poisonous snakes, particularly in a negligent way.
