A Kerala Forest Department official, G S Roshni, has become a viral sensation after boldly rescuing a huge 16-foot king cobra. The snake was seen in a stream along Peppara, a favorite bathing spot for locals. Roshni, as part of a five-member Rapid Response Team, deftly handled the gargantuan reptile using a snake-catching stick, displaying bravery and professionalism.

The heart-stopping rescue was filmed and posted by Retired Forest Officer Susanta Nanda on social media, with huge acclaim.”My respect to the green queens and their bravery in the wild,” Nanda wrote as she posted it, congratulating Roshni’s extraordinary achievement. The rescue was Roshni’s first opportunity to work with a king cobra, despite her rescue of over 800 snakes in her nearly eight year career.

Roshni’s first delivery was efficient and accurate. The reports state that it took Roshni only a few minutes to put the cobra in a bag. It was reported to be approximately 14-15 feet long, weighing around 20 kilograms. Once the snake was rescued, it was released into the right habitat many kilometers into the forest.
