Timely action by the airport authorities averted a flight accident. Two planes and many passengers have a close shave in the Los Angeles Airport in USA when two planes were about to collide during a take-off.

In a footage captured during the take-off, the Delta Airlines flight was about to collide with a plane carrying the Gonzaga University basketball team in a Key Lime Air Jet. The incident happened on Friday afternoon around 4.30 pm local time.

As can be seen in the video, Gonzaga’s chartered Key Lime Air Flight 563 was taking off on the runway, when suddenly air traffic controllers screamed, “Stop, stop, stop!” On the other side, the Delta Airlines flight had taken off when the LAX ATC urgently called out to the Key Lime Air Flight to stop its take off. The Key Lime flight pilot was at his toes and halted the take-off.

Following the incident, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launched an investigation into the incident, with authorities confirming that air traffic controllers had taken action in time. The Air Jet of the university did not cross the runway edge line, said the authorities.

This was a close shave for the passengers when in the last few days, two major air accidents had claimed the lives of many people. The Jeju Air Flight in South Korea on Sunday killed 179 people out of the 181 present in it probably after a bird strike. Prior to it, a crash in Kazakhstan took 38 lives. This timely action by the air traffic controlled averted a flight accident.
