Dog gets stranded halfway down 200-ft cliff, rescued and reunited with owner; Video viral

A heartwarming video of a dog reuniting with its owner is melting hearts on the Internet. During a hike, the dog got stranded halfway down the 200-ft cliff and had to remain stuck their overnight before a team of rescuers rescued it. The incident took place in Delta Flats area at Big Tujunga Canyon in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

According to the sources, a German Shepherd dog named Onyx got stuck halfway down a 200-foot cliff while hiking with its owner. During the hike, the fluff fell from the top of the cliff and got stranded in the dry bush. Although he was physically unharmed, he had to spend a whole night scared and alone hanging on the cliff.

A rescue operation was carried out by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department the very next day and luckily the hiker and the pet escaped unhurt.

The department took to its official Twitter handle to share some pictures from the brave rescue operation carried out by their team.

The caption in the post read, “#LASD Air Rescue 5 and LASD @MontroseSAR Search and Rescue personnel rescue hiker and hiker’s family pet who was stuck on the side of a cliff overnight in Big Tujunga Canyon in the Delta Flats area. Dog and hiker are safe.”

One of Montrose’s Search and Rescue Team’s first responder, Mike Leum, also took a video of the emotional moment featuring the pet reuniting with its owners and posted it on his Twitter.

“VOLUME UP ON THIS HAPPY REUNION! This German Shepard was stuck overnight halfway down a 200’ cliff,” wrote Mike.
