Couple fleeing home get shelter at this place of Himachal: Check details

The vast Indian sub-continent is full of interesting and versatile traditions, legends and practices. While the whole Indian year is filled with different festivals there are places that have fascinating practices. Though it seems a little bit unbelievable to accept, but there is a temple in Himachal Pradesh where the couple who flee from home get shelter.

Among the hundreds of temples in the hilly terrain of this Indian State there is a temple named Shangchul temple which is attached to a legend based upon which the villagers of Shangarh, where the temple is situated, provides protection to couples who flee from home and reach here. This temple is located in Kullu in Sainj valley.

This place is related to even the time of Dwapara Yug. It is believed that the Pandavas had visited this place during their one year Angyatbas (living at a place in disguise where they should not be recognized). As per the legend the Kauravs came here chasing them. Yet, the Shungchul Mahadev temple stopped them. They were said by the Lord that anybody who comes to this area cannot be harmed. And thus the Kauravas returned back.

There are specific restricts in this area. Police are not allowed here while you cannot bring alcohol or cigarettes as well as leather articles here. Also, it is forbidden to bring weapons here. Even fight and quarrel is prohibited here while you cannot speak in a loud voice.

Once a lover couple reaches here, the Brahmin community of the temple perform their duties for them till their matter is not solved.

Undoubtedly Himachal is filled with scenic beauty backed by picturesque landscapes and lush green environment which is not less than a heaven for the lovers to spend time.
