The Chief Justice of India, Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud was late to the courtroom, know what happened next!

The Chief Justice of India, Justice Dhananjaya Y. Chandrachud, is counted among the very disciplined judges. He is punctual and hates procrastination. One such incident happened a few months ago when he was late to the courtroom, but he did not hesitate to apologise immediately.

According to a report in The Week, one day, justice was delayed by 10 minutes in reaching the courtroom. When he arrived, the first thing he said was ‘sorry’. The CJI said, “I was discussing something with a fellow judge, so I was late.” It is not a normal thing for someone from the Supreme Court to apologise at such a late time, but CJI often does.

Retired Judge of the Allahabad High Court, Justice Pradeep Kumar Singh, while praising Justice Chandrachud, says that he is very disciplined and follows the law strictly. They have the same hope for others. The other fellow judges also say that he does not hesitate to tell the truth and says it with a smile. This is his speciality.

Recently, in the India Today conclave, Justice Chandrachud said that the judges of the Supreme Court work seven days a week, and since we work from 10.30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the timing of the court, this is only a small part of our work. The same amount of time is required to prepare the cases we will hear the following day. All issues must be resolved, which begins on Saturday and continues on Sunday with preparations for Monday’s issues.

Meanwhile, CJI said that he was working during his last vacation as well. It is said that all the matters were such that a decision had to be given. So, to save time, I was working on judgements with my judicial clerk even during vacations.
