Cash rains on highway, chaos ensues on road

A cash loaded armour truck spilled cash on New Jersey highway. It led to massive chaos and a number of accidents as people attempted to grab cash.

East Rutherford Police Department said that they received a report that an armored truck spilled cash at about 8.30am. “Motorists exited vehicles attempting to remove cash causing multiple MV Crashes,” they said in a tweet.

Fox News reported that the incident took place near Metlife Stadium, right outside of New York City.

“Early Christmas for NJ commuters”, wrote a Twitter user Sabrina Quagliozzi.

The Police is now urging people who took cash from the scene to return the money.

“It’s theft of mislaid property,” East Rutherford police Detective Lieutenant Mike Gianscaspro told WABC-TV. “So we’re not looking to charge anybody, we’re just looking to get the money back to Brinks.”

Police said that one of the locks on the truck’s door was malfunctioning and hence the spill. An audit has been set to calculate how much money was lost.
