You can update Aadhaar Card very easily by sitting at home; here is step-by-step process

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has issued 12-digit identification number Aadhaar card. To use Aadhaar Card as valid evidence, it is very important that the information entered in your Aadhaar is absolutely updated. However, many times it happens that we change our accommodation due to transfer in job or having a rental house. In such a situation, it is very important to update the new address in the Aadhaar card. You can update the address through offline as well as online. However, it is important to note that in order to update the address in the Aadhaar card, you need to provide a valid address proof.

UIDAI says that if you want to update the address online then the document provided by you should be in your name. Also it should be included in the list of 44 documents accepted by UIDAI. Documents such as passport, rent agreement, bank statement or passbook, telephone bill, electricity bill, voter ID card and driving license are included in this list.

Aadhar Update Check list

If you are using the Online Address Update service, make sure that the document you upload is:

  1. In your name
  2. One of the documents listed here” rel=”nofollow
  3. Entire document is scanned (front and back sides) & uploaded as a single pdf file

If your mobile number is registered with UIDAI then you can update the address online. Let’s know the whole process:

  1. Log on to the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal (
  2. After this, click on the ‘Proceed to update Address’ tab.
  3. Now enter the 12 digit Aadhaar number and captcha code and click ‘Send OTP’.
  4. Now select the option to update the address with a valid ID.
  5. After this, fill the address at the specified place and also upload and submit the document.
  6. After this your address will be updated in the Aadhaar card within a certain time. The thing to note here is that even if you do not have document proof, you can update the address through the address validation letter. You can get this validation letter with four steps.
  7. The other most important thing is that if you have more than one page in the address proof, then you scan all of them and make a PDF file. Only then you upload it on the UIDAI website.
