Yellow warning to 17 districts of Odisha: Heavy to very heavy rain expected

Bhubaneswar: The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that heavy to very rain is likely to lash Odisha in the next four days. The weather department has also issued a yellow warning for heavy rain to 17 districts today.

According to the recent bulletin of the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, Isolated thunderstorm with lightning along with heavy rain is likely to lash Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Nayagarh, Puri, Khurda, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Balasore, and Mayurbhanj.

Likewise, the weathermen have issued a yellow alert for light to moderate rain or thundershower to many places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, and at a few places over the rest districts of Odisha for tomorrow (August 7). Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall (7cm to 11cm) has been issued to Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Balasore, and Bhadrak.

On August 8, light to moderate rain or thundershower will likely occur at most places over the districts of Odisha. Yellow Warning for heavy rainfall (7cm to 11cm) has been issued to Bargarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur.

Furthermore, on August 9, light moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur in many places over the districts of North Odisha and in a few places over the districts of South Odisha.

Keeping the weather conditions in mind, the weather department has advised people in the yellow alert areas to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning.
