Balangir: Crime against women continued to rise in Odisha as a fresh rape allegation case has come to the fore from the Kantabanji area of Balangir district on Tuesday.
While informing about the incident, Kantabanji SDPO Laxmi Narayan Marandi, said that the woman in her written complaint filed on September 11 alleged that one Chintu Agarwal, who is her husband’s colleague, sexually assaulted her forcefully and threatened her of dire consequences if she informs about the rape to anyone.
Based on her complain, police registered a Kantabanji police station case no 325, 2025 under sections of 64(1) and 351 (2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 against Chintu Agarwal and started a probe into the matter.
The woman’s written complaint revealed that Chintu raped her between 7 PM and 8 PM when she was alone in the house on August 13 while her husband had gone to the market. However, she filed the complaint on September 11 fearing social stigma and even the accused had threatened to kill her husband.
The young couple was living in a rented house and the accused, who has absconded after committing the crime, used to visit them on regular basis as he was the colleague of her husband.
“We have sought the CDR (Call Detail Record) of the accused to identify the location of the accused and soon a team of cops will go to arrest him once his location is identified,” the Kantabanji SDPO informed.
