Woman died due to wild animal attack: Post-mortem report

Angul: The postmortem report of the woman, who had died due to alleged attack by Royal Bengal tigress ‘Sundari’, on Monday revealed that her death was caused by wild animal attack. However, it is yet to be ascertained that whether tigress Sundari was the predator or not.

One Kailashi Gadnayak of Hatibari village was mauled to death allegedly by the Royal Bengal tigress on September 12. The incident had triggered violent protests by locals who had torched the Hatibari Forest Beat House and the Tikarpada forest range office.

Meanwhile, speculations were rife that the tigress ‘Sundari’ would be sent back to its original habitat in Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh from Satkosia Wildlife Sanctuary.

However, a team of Wild Life Institute of India (WII), which was formed to monitor the movement and behaviour of Sundari, today ruled out the speculation saying the big cat will continue to stay in Satkosia.
