Bhubaneswar: Winter in Odisha continues to intensify with the temperature continuing to drop. Most parts of the state are experiencing the nighttime temperature at below 15 degree Celsius.
Especially in the hilly regions, temperature continues to drop steadily. In the last 24 hours, G Udayagiri of Kandhamal district turned to be the coldest city of Odisha with temperature recorded at seven degree Celsius.
Further, the temperature in Phulbani was recorded nine degree Celsius while the same for Daringbadi was 9.05 degree Celsius. Similarly, Keonjhar district recorded the daily average temperature at below 10 degree Celsius.
In several areas, local people can be seen setting up bonfires in order to get relief from the cold.
The intensity of winter in Odisha is likely to persist till December 17. Temperature is likely to drop further under the influence of dry winds entering the state from North-West direction. Forecasts from the Regional meteorological department predict light to moderate amount of fog in multiple areas across Southern and Interior Odisha.
