White tiger cub dies at Nandankanan Zoo in Bhubaneswar, the tiger cub had been showing signs of paralysis since March.
Bhubaneswar: White tiger cub died in Nandankanan Zoo at Bhubaneswar the capital city of Odisha. The deceased tiger cub had been showing signs of paralysis since March.
It is worth mentioning that it was being given regular medical care including diagnostic imaging, medicine and nutritious food.
On November 2 last year, Rupa gave birth to four cubs. However the tiger cub died last Saturday night. Nandankanan Deputy Director Sanath Kumar Narayan informed that the cause of death will be known after the postmortem.
After the death, the number of tigers in Nandankanan Zoo has come down to 27. Of which 18 are normal-colored tigers, five are white tigers and 4 are melanistic tigers.
It is worth mentioning here that, Rupa’s other cubs are also showing similar symptoms. Nandankanan authorities informed that screening and treatment against the disease are ongoing.
