Utkela Airport Odisha to be inaugurated on August 31

The flight service between Utkela Airport in Kalahandi district and Odisha capital is all set to be inaugurated on August 31.

Kalahandi: The flight service between Utkela Airport in Kalahandi district and Odisha capital is all set to be inaugurated on August 31.

The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had granted the licence to the Utkela Airport, Odisha on August 7, 2023.

Taking to his X handle, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik informed about the development. He also said that the flight operations from the Utkela Airport to Bhubaneswar will commence soon.

The Chief Minister stated that the flight operation from the Utkela Airport will boost connectivity, commerce and tourism, fulfilling aspirations of people of the region.

IndiaOne Air will provide air service between Utkela Airport and Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar. The service will be extended to Raipur in Chhattisgarh later on.

IndiaOne Air has a nine-seater flight to start air service between Utkela Airport and BPIA, said a source.

The state government has spent around Rs 162 crore for acquisition of land, construction of runway and terminal building for Utkela Airport.

“Glad to share that #UtkelaAirport in #Kalahandi district has received DGCA license to start flight operations. Soon flight operations will commence to #Bhubaneswar. It will boost connectivity, commerce & tourism, fulfilling aspirations of people of the region,” CM Patnaik wrote on his X handle.

It is worth mentioning that the inaugural ceremony will be attended by a number of dignitaries at the Utkela airport in Kalahandi and at the Biju Patnaik airport in Bhubaneswar.
