Utkal Express Mishap: Action taken against 8 Railway Officials

New Delhi: The Indian Railways cracked the whip over Utkal Express Derailment tragedy, by taking action against 8 officials.

The Railways acknowledged human error in the mishap in Muzaffarnagar, which killed 23 people and injured around 150. A senior divisional engineer, assistant engineer, a senior section engineer (Permanent Way), responsible for track maintenance and a junior engineer have been suspended.

Member (Engineering) in the Railway Board, Northern Railway General Manager and Divisional Regional Manager (Delhi) have been sent on leave.

Chief track engineer, Northern Railway, was transferred too.
