Union Health Minister JP Nadda to launch Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Odisha on April 11

It is to be noted here that the State Government has already approved for the simultaneous implementation of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in the state.

Bhubaneswar: Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda will launch the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) in Odisha on April 11, informed State BJP president Manmohan Samal.

While speaking to the media persons, Samal said that the Union Health Minister will reach Bhubaneswar on April 10 and launch the Ayushman Bharat Yojana on the following day.

It is to be noted here that the State Government has already approved for the simultaneous implementation of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in the state.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Health Authority (NHA) for the implementation of the national health scheme also has been already signed, the CM said adding that as many as 3.46 crore members of over 1.3 Crore families of the state will get the health cards for Cashless Treatment upto Rs 5 lakh per family per annum, with additional Rs 5 lakh for women members.

Besides, the Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Yojana will also be rolled out in the state so that the senior citizens above 70 years of age from any economic class, whether rich or poor, will get a free treatment of Rs 5 lakh each, he mentioned.

According to the CM, the State Cabinet has sanctioned Rs 2700.19 Crore for the implementation of AB PMJAY-GJAY for the financial years from 2025-26 to 2029-30.

If the AB PMJAY, GJAY and Ayushman Bharat Vaya Vandana Yojana implemented together in the state:

  • The beneficiaries of these schemes will get free treatment at over 29,000 empanelled government and private hospitals across the country. Earlier, the service was available only in 900 hospitals.
  • Besides, the Odisha government will get financial support from the central government for implementing AB PMJAY.
