Bhubaneswar:  With a view to taking the various welfare schemes of the Naveen Government to the people and strengthening the party organisation, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) on Saturday began its two-day long observers’s training programme here.

The most important aspect of the whole exercise is to reach out to the people through the recently launched “Aama gaon, Aama Bikash” and “Aama Sahara, Aama Urnati” programmes. While the former will focus on rural areas, the latter will be aimed at semi-urban and urban areas in the state.

Earlier, the ruling party had appointed observers at the grassroots level across the state. In addition, it would form ward level committees with 15 to 21 members each depending on the size of the ward as well as NAC and Municipality committees comprising 50 members, and municipal corporation wards with 100 members. All the frontal wings would be involved in the formation of such committees.

Talking to Kalinga TV, senior BJD leader Arun Sahu said, “The training programme aims to popularise the pro-people initiatives taken by the State Government at the grassroots level in the state.”

“The initiatives will also strengthen our party in the days ahead,” he added.

Veteran BJD leader and Women & Child Development Minister Prafulla Samal said, “The committee at the grassroots level will help people to get the benefits of state government schemes in time and without any hassles.”

“The observers will send regular reports to the State committee and the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would directly talk to ward committee leaders,” he added.
