Two brothers die after being hit by pickup van in Balangir district
In a heart-wrenching incident, two brothers were killed reportedly after being hit by a pickup van in Odisha’s Balangir district on Monday.
Balangir: In a heart-wrenching incident, two brothers were killed reportedly after being hit by a pickup van in Odisha’s Balangir district on Monday.
One Rajkumar Ray along with his brother Dilesh Ray of Bhalukhai village under Belapada police station of the district was going on a bike to Turekela area of the district this morning for some work.
However, a pickup van hit their bike near Larkí village under Turekela police station of the district causing the Rajkumar’s death on the spot.
Some commuters going on the same route informed the police after noticing the siblings lying on the road. A team of local cops rushed to the spot and with the help of the locals rescued Dilesh in a critical condition and wheeled him into Turekela hospital for treatment. But unfortunately, doctors declared him brought dead.
Rajkumar’s body was also taken to the hospital for post-mortem and the family members of the deceased siblings were informed about the tragic incident.
“According to some eyewitnesses, my brothers died after being hit by a pickup van while they were returning home after completing some work. We request the police to arrest accused driver immediately,” demanded Rutu Ray, the brother of the deceased youths.
Tension prevailed in the area as the locals protested the tragic deaths of the siblings and demanded immediate identification of the pickup van and arrest the accused driver. They also sought adequate compensation for the family of the deceased brothers.
Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the matter. Apart from seizing the bike of the deceased youths, the cops initiated the process for the post-mortem of the deceased siblings.
A pall of gloom descended on the area following the tragic and unfortunate deaths of Rajkumar Ray and Dilesh.
