Tragic! Kanwariya dies of snakebite in Chandbali of Odisha
Chandbali: In a tragic incident, a kanwariya died of a snakebite in Bhadrak district of Odisha said reports on Monday. The kanwariya identified as Himanshu Majhi allegedly belongs to Patuli area under Dhusuri police station jurisdiction.
According to reports, the devotee was on his way to Baba Akhandalamani Shiva peetha in Aradi of Bhadrak district of Odisha to pour water on Shiva in the holy month of Sharavan. The snake allegedly bit him on the way.
He was immediately rushed to Aradi hospital but as his condition did not improve he was referred to Bhadrak District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) where the doctors declared him brought dead.
Yesterday that is on August 4, a bol Bom devotee (kanwariya) went missing reportedly after being swept away while lifting water from the Bhadimula Ghat of the Mahanadi River in Cuttack.
A total of 10 kanwariyas were reportedly lifting water from the Bhadimula Ghat for the jalalagi rituals in view of the third Monday of the Shravana Month tomorrow. However, three of them were swept away by the heavy current of water.
The other kanwariyas soon swung into action and could manage to rescue only two of them, while the third one went missing. Then they informed the fire service personnel about the matter.
A team of firefighters from Chauliaganj reached at the Bhadimula Ghat and started a search operation to trace the missing Bol Bom devotee, who is identified as 22-year-old Biswajeet Behera of Tinigharia in Cuttack district.
