Bhubaneswar: To announce large sum of money in the budget is not important but it has to be spent for the development of the State, said Leader of Opposition (LoP) Naveen Patnaik while reacting over the Odisha Budget 2025-26, presented by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the State assembly today.

While speaking to the newsmen about the State Budget 2025-26, the former CM said, “A very large sum of money from the last budget has still not been spent. Industrial growth is going down, so as the finances of our state. It seems the double engine government is going in reverse scale. The prices of the essential commodities are affecting everyone. The suicides of the farmers continue. Women are not getting work in Mission Shakti. Unemployment is spiraling.”

“To announce large sum of money in the budget is not important. What has to be done is the expenditure of those sums for the development of our state. I repeat again that this is a budget which must be spent. We will watch and see what is to be done,” he added.
