Angul: Bandhavgarh Tigress ‘Sundari’ was released into Satkosia Tiger Reserve from special enclosure on Friday. The big cat was released into the forest after medical check-ups.
The 27-month-old tigress was brought from Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh on June 28 this year. After it was brought the tigress was lodged in a special enclosure.
Earlier, a Royal Bengal male tiger, which was brought from Kanha National Park in Madhya Pradesh , has been released into the forest.
The tigers were translocated as a part of inter-state re-introduction of tigers for the first time in India, following the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) guidelines.
