Subarnapur: Soil Conservator Overseer of Ulunda Block arrested by Odisha Vigilance for accepting Rs 11,000 bribe

Subarnapur: Tightening the noose around the neck of corrupt Government officials the sleuths of Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested the Soil Conservator Overseer of Ulunda Block in Subarnapur district of Odisha for accepting bribe of Rs 11,000.

The accused has been identified as Sudhanshu Sekhar Rana.

As per reports, Odisha Vigilance today apprehened the Soil Conservation Overseer for demanding and accepting undue advantage (bribe) of Rs.11,000/-(Rupees Eleven Thousand) from a complainant (beneficiary) for facilitating release of final bill for completion of work under “Excavation of Farm Pond” scheme.

Based on the above complaint, a trap was laid on 03.08.2024, wherein the accused Sudhanshu Sekhar Rana, Soil Conservation Overseer was caught by the team of Odisha Vigilance at Patabhadi Chowk, Sonepur for demanding and accepting undue advantage of Rs.11,000 from the complainant.

The entire bribe money was recovered from the possession of Rana and seized in presence of witnesses. Right hand wash as well as shirt pocket wash of Rana gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches have been launched on the residential house of Rana at Rugudipada, Bolangir and his office room. Accused Sudhanshu Sekhar Rana, Soil Conservation Overseer has been arrested and is being forwarded to the Court.

In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.18 dated 02.08.2024 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been is registered and is under investigation.
