Student dies after taking Measles-Rubella Vaccine in Odisha

Jharsuguda: In a shocking incident, a class VII girl of Banjari Sevashram of the district died allegedly after taking the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccine on Tuesday. The deceased has been identified as Anju Kisan.

Students of Banjari Sevashram were reportedly administered the Measles-Rubella vaccine on January 29. However, Kisan started vomiting and suffered from diarrhea on Saturday. The hostel authorities rushed her to the local hospital where the student was given an injection.

Later, her parents went to the Sevashram and took the girl to their house after getting information.

As per the allegation of Kisan’s parents, the minor fell sick again in the house yesterday. She was rushed to the district headquarters hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

Meanwhile,Jharsuguda CDMO has formed a team to probe into the incident.

Earlier, there were several reports of students falling sick after taking the vaccine. Their parents had claimed that the vaccine had caused side effects.
