Soumya Ranjan Swain died due to severe brain injury, reveals post-mortem report
The much-awaited post-mortem report of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain, who was brutally murdered at Balianta on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar last month, revealed that he died due to severe brain injury.
Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited post-mortem report of GRP constable Soumya Ranjan Swain, who was brutally murdered at Balianta on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar last month, revealed that he died due to severe brain injury.
The postmortem report received by the Capital Hospital revealed that Soumya Ranjan sustained severe brain injury following violent attack with hard objects and he suffered injuries in 21 places on his body.
According to the report, Soumya Ranjan had deep marks of injuries in various places due to beatings on his body. He had suffered severe bleeding or brain hemorrhage due to deep wounds in 21 places including sensitive parts of his body including his head, eyes, nose, back, chest and legs. It is also known that he was unconscious at the time of his death.
As his death occurred due to attack with a hard and heavy object, the postmortem report is expected to provide another evidence of this murder.
Meanwhile, Soumya Ranjan’s mother said that the mob beat her son mercilessly with whatever they could find. The postmortem report clearly shows this.
On the other hand, the Crime Branch has applied to take the arrested accused in the incident on remand. The Crime Branch has prayed before the JMFC court to take the 11 accused, initially arrested by the Commissionerate Police, on five-day remand.
