Both the posts fell vacant after Senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu , who held both these ministries in the Narendra Modi Government, resigned after being named the NDA candidate for the Vice presidential election yesterday.
Irani and Tomar are currently in charge of the Textiles and Rural Development ministries respectively.
Both Irani and Tomar had lost their respective portfolios during the Cabinet reshuffle in 2016. Irani was replaced by Prakash Javedekar as the HRD Minister while Piyush Goyal replaced Tomar and was given additional charge of Minister of Mines.
