Six poachers arrested in Balasore, Sabuja Bahini member attacked
Subrat Kumar Behera, the Ranger-cum-In charge of Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary, informed that one of the trap cameras installed inside the wildlife sanctuary was stolen recently.
Balasore: As many as six poachers were arrested by the forest officials after being identified by a trap camera installed in Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary in Odisha’s Balasore district.
Subrat Kumar Behera, the Ranger-cum-Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF) in-charge of Kuldiha Wildlife Sanctuary, informed that one of the trap cameras installed inside the wildlife sanctuary was stolen recently.
When verified another nearby trap camera, the poachers were identified following which we tracked and arrested them from their houses, Behera said adding that the forest team also seized a country-made pistol, two bows, arrows and things used for poaching from their possessions.
In a similar incident, a four-member joint team of the forest officials and Sabuja Bahini members conducted a raid in the Santaragadia Forest Beat after getting information about the presence of the poachers.
The joint team spotted one Madha Singh of Jamapada area and his nephew and tried to nab them. However, Madha attacked the forest officials and managed to escape from the spot while his nephew was arrested.
One of the Sabuja Bahini members, named Maheswar Behera, was sustained injuries on his head after being attacked by Madha Singh.
Later, the officials conducted a raid on Madha Singh’s house but did not find him, however, they seized some illegal wildlife products during the search. Further effort by them is underway to trace and arrest him.
