Burla: In a shocking incident, about 70 injections were retrieved from the head of a sorcery victim girl through (medical) surgery. The doctors at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla of Sambalpur district reportedly retrieved as many as 70 injection needles that had been pierced to her head allegedly by a village sorcerer in Balangir district.
The sorcerer had put these needles in the victim’s head allegedly as a sorcery treatment. Such an unbelievable incident has shocked the whole State.
As per reports, after the girl was taken to the sorcerer for treatment he pierced injection needles into her head as a treatment.
As many as 10 doctors performed a major operation at the VIMSAR hospital and took out these 70 needles from the head of the girl.
Reportedly, the affair of injection needle piercing started four years ago. That means, the girl was bearing the pain of 70 injection needles pierced into her head in the last four years.
Following death of her mother in 2022, Bishnu Prasad Behera’s daughter from Ichgan village under Titlagarh Police Station limits in Balangir district was scared. Suspecting it to be a health issue, her parents took her to the doctor. But the doctors clarified after examination that the girl was health-wise fine.
However, later the same problem occurred again. Hence, her father took her to a sorcerer. To provide sorcery treatment the sorcerer took the girl into a room while his wife was also present with them and treated the girl.Now, after recovery of the needles it has been learnt that the sorcerer was putting needles into the head of the girl.
As after two three attempts the sorcerer could not heel the girl, her father admitted her to the hospital in Balangir and as her health condition worsened further she was shifted to VIMSAR in Burla where about 70 injection needles were pulled out from her head. The girl is still under treatment at the hospital.
With the basis of a Police complaint the sorcerer has been arrested and has been taken in Police remand.
