Sextortion racket case: Cuttack Police to take arrested Nigerian national on five-day remand
The Cuttack unit of the Commissionerate Police will take the Nigerian national, whom it arrested from Delhi recently on charges of running a sextortion racket with different fake social media accounts and looting lakhs of rupees from women, will take him on a five-day remand.

According to Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, the Commissionerate Police had applied before the court to take Djedje Raymond alias Chijioke John Okoye, the Nigerian national, on a five-day remand to interrogate him over the issue and the court has granted it permission to take him from tomorrow.
It is to be noted here that the Commissionerate Police started an investigation after the family members of a lady doctor filed a complaint. The police probed the case based on the information they got from the doctor’s suicide note.
They tracked some phone numbers the deceased doctor had mentioned in her suicide note and arrested Djedje Raymond from Delhi with the help of the local police and brought him to Odisha on a transit remand. They also seized one laptop, five mobile phones, 8 SIM cards of different countries and one passport of “REPUBLIQUE DE COTE D’IVORIE” issued in the name of Djedje Raymond @ Chijioke John Okoye.
Djedje Raymond used created fake Facebook accounts of several established Indian doctors and engineers and send friend requests to people, especially to women. By chatting with them, he used to developed friendship with them and then cunningly lured them to obtain their mobile and WhatsApp numbers by giving a sense of having a relationship with them.
Subsequently, Djedje Raymond managed to collect private photographs/videos of the victims by sharing fake photos/videos of him. Then, he used those private photographs and videos of the victim for blackmailing them. In instant case also, accused cunningly obtained such incriminating photos of the victim and utilising them, he started blackmailing her by threatening to make it viral on social media. Unfortunately, the victim got scared from it because of the social stigma and finding no other way, took her life.
