Rs 2,19,200 fine slapped on picnic bus in Odisha, check details
Sambalpur Regional Transport Officer (RTO) has reportedly imposed a hefty fine of Rs 2,19,200 on a picnic bus for on charges of the Motor Vehicle Act violation.
Sambalpur: Sambalpur Regional Transport Officer (RTO) has reportedly imposed a hefty fine of Rs 2,19,200 on a picnic bus for on charges of the Motor Vehicle Act violation.
Some residents of Jharsuguda district had reportedly gone to Sambalpur district on a picnic in a private bus named ‘Sujal’ that had the registration number of OR 23 C 6626.
However, officials of the Sambalpur Regional Transport Office inspected the bus while it was returning back after the picnic. The officials checking at Ainthapali Chowk of the district, revealed that while the driver did not have a valid licence, the vehicle did not have insurance, Registration Certificate (RC) and Fitness Certificate (FC) and violated air and noise pollution.
Besides, the bus which was also plying without permit had not paid tax since November 1, 2024. Following this, the RTO officials issued a challan amount of Rs 2,19,200.
After seizing the bus, the official arranged another bus and sent all the occupants to their respective destinations.

Meanwhile, the incident has become a topic of discussion in the locality.
