The opening of gates was done in strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and people in the downstream were informed sufficiently in advance.
As per sources in Rengali Flood Control Cell, 5300 cusecs of water is being released through eight gates with an inflow of 7030 cusecs per second into the dam. Sluice gate no. 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11,12 and 13 have been kept open for the purpose.
Rengali dam built on river Brahmani has a capacity to hold a water level of 123.5 meter at Full Reservoir Level (FRL) with the current level of flood water remaining at 113.75 meter.
