Rath Yatra preparations reach final stage, as chariots all set to roll on July 7

Puri: The Rath Yatra preparations reached the final stages, as the chariot work is almost over and they are all set to roll on July 7. Craftsmen were seen putting finishing touches on the three chariots that is Nandighosha, Taladhwaja and Darpadalana.

The throne has been carved and the coloring work is underway. The three chariots have been reversed from the ratha khala (place where the Raths are made) The Nandighosh charioteers have finished the required paint on the wheels, bars, railing, outer parts of the chariot. After that, the final touches are being made to the paint work on the outer part of the Taladhwaja Rath and the Darpadalana Rath.

The Ojha servitors are continuing the work of making the thrones for the three chariots. Mock drills shall be done. All the ride related SOPs shall be checked as a part of the Rath Yatra preparations. Preparations have been made to coordinate between various departments. This time, 180 platoon police force will be deployed for the ride.

Meanwhile is is worth mentioning here, Lord Jagannath and his siblings who were suffering from fever, have already recovered. The Rajaprasad Bije niti has been observed meaning that, of the servitors of Srimandir have visited the Sri Nahar (Rajaprasad), the palace of Gajapati Maharaj and informed him about the recovery of Lord Jagannath and siblings. The servitors took with them Karala Chandana (sandalwood) and Anga bastra (clothes) placed on a pata bastra (royal clothe) wrapped silver disc.

There the Gajapati Maharaj received the offering and then the Daitapati servitors intimated the king about recovery of Lord Jagannath and siblings. They also discussed with the king about the  upcoming Rath Yatra preparations and secret rituals of the deities.
