Ahead of Rath Yatra 2025, Lord Jagannath and his siblings have recovered from fever and were offered Dasamool Modak today
Puri: Lord Jagannath and his siblings are recovering slowly from their fever. Today, on Ansar Ekadashi, Dasamool Modak will be applied to the holy trinity and they will be completely cured.
The Dasamool Modak prepared by the Rajavaidya will be sent to the temple today. Ahead of the Rath Yatra 2025, The Lord and his siblings who has been suffering from fever since Snana Purnima, left their bed on Dashami Tithi. On Dashami, the Lord was wheeled around in the Ansar ghara.
Today, on Khalilaga Ekadashi Tithi, Dasamool Modak will be applied to the Lord. After that, the ailing Lord will be completely cured. The Rahala and Patimahapatra Sevayats will apply sandalwood on the body of the Lords in three batches.
There is a procedure for applying sandalwood to the Deity by mixing camphor, kesar and sufficient amount of musk. Today, the Lord will wear Khanduapata for two days. After applying Tulsi to the Lord, Dasamool Modak will be applied to the Lord ahead of Rath Yatra.
There is a tradition of ringing bells and kahali during the ritual to inform the devotees about the recovery of the Lord. Before Ekadashi Tithi, Mahaprabhu, was worshipped with white flowers without Tulsi. But Tulsi shall be offered from today onwards.
Tomorrow, on the 12th day, the news of the recovery of the Mahaprabhu will be conveyed to the Gajapati Maharaj by the Sevayats. The deities, who are on a 15-day long ‘Anasara’ stay in the temple, would recover from sickness a day before Rath Yatra on the occasion of Naba Jaubana Darshan to appear before devotees.
Following which the annual sojourn of the Lord and his siblings the world famous Rath Yatra will take place on June 27.
