Puri: The process of dismantling of the raths of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra has been started on August 22 in Puri, said reliable reports. The dismantling of the three raths has started from today in the holy land amidst heavy security.
First the chariot of Devi Subhadra that is Darpadalana will be dismantled, followed by the Taladhwaja chariot of Lord Balabhadra. And then finally according to the tradition the dismantling of the Nandighosha chariot of Lord Jagannath will take place.
Many devotees collect the iron nails from the chariot of Goddess Subhadra as it is believed that if it is stuck on a fruitless tree, it will bear fruit. The Bhoi Sevayats of the temple are engaged in this chariot dismantling work. Strict security arrangements have been made in the vicinity of the chariot in case of vandalism, said reports on Friday.
The chariot will be completely dismantled and all the timber will be entrusted to the management of the temple and later auctioned. The chariot wheels, prabha, door frames, and konguj will be auctioned. This auction will be conducted by the temple administration.
It is worth mentioning here that the rest of the wood will be used in the preparation of the Kothabhoga of the Lord in the kitchen of the Jagannath temple.
