Bhubaneswar: Accepting Odisha’s long standing demand, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Wednesday announced that the Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express (Train no. 22811/22812) will run via Sambalpur shortly.
In a letter to Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Goyal confirmed that the Rajdhani Express will begin its journey via Sambalpur once a week shortly.
“I am happy to inform that in deference to your request, we shall shortly start running Bhubaneswar-New Delhi Rajdhani Express via Sambalpur once a week,” said the Railway Minister in his letter.
According to sources, the new route will have stoppages in Dhenkanal, Angul, Talcher, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Rourkela.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had raised the demand and discussed the proposed new route of the Rajdhani Express with the Union Minister during his stay in the national capital on September 28.
