Rain water enters sanctum santorum in Maa Samaleswari temple of Balangir, rituals could not performed

The rain water entered into the temple of Maa Samaleswari due to heavy rains in the district due to which rituals could not be performed.

Balangir: In a shocking incident, drain water entered the temple of the revered Goddess Maa Samaleswari of Balangir district. Following incessant rains in the district last night, the rain water entered into the temple as a result the rituals (Niti Kanti) of the Goddess could not be performed.

According to information, the low pressure rains lashed out in Balangir district. Normal life was thrown out of gear as a result of these continuous heavy rains. Unfortunately, the temple of Maa Samaleswari also had to face the brunt of rainfall.

The rainwater has entered into the Sanctum sanctorum of the Maa Samaleswari temple. To make matters worse, the water is yet to be drained out from the temple. The devotees have expressed their concern over the incident.

In the last few days, the Mahanadi flood waters have again breached the limit and entered the temple of Maa Bhattarika, the revered Goddess of Badamba in Cuttack district.

According to information, the floodwaters of Mahanadi river have entered the premises of Maa Bhattarika’s temple in Cuttack. This is the third time when that water has entered the shrine.

The temple priests and the Debottara department made preparations to shift the idol of Maa Bhattarika to another place. The district administration also helped the temple administration in the shifting process.

The Tehsildar cum the Executive incharge of Debottar department have asked the locals not to go near Mahanadi for bathing and other purposes because of the risk of the flood waters.
