Precautionary measures to tackle likely heatwave in Odisha, SRC issues letter

Bhubaneswar: Precautionary measures to be taken to tackle anticipated prevailing weather conditions across the state of Odisha. A letter has been issued in this regard by the SRC to be prepared in this matter.

Reports said that, Satyabrata Sahu, IAS, Special Relief Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary to Government has issued a precaution in this regard.

The letter read, “Due to prevailing dry conditions across the State and strengthening of north- westerly dry winds in middle and upper level of atmosphere, maximum temperature (Day Temperature) likely to be 40° Celsius or more at many places in the districts of interior Odisha and maximum temperature is likely to be above normal by 2° Celsius to 3° Celsius at few districts of coastal Odisha.”

Further the letter also mentioned relating to the heatwave in Odisha that, “There shall be hot and high humid conditions over coastal Odisha during this week.”

Therefore the SRC has requested that the basic health facilities at the Community Health Centers  (CHC), Primary Health Centers (PHC) and Sub- Divisional and District Headquarters Hospitals (DHH) to be reviewed to tackle heat related problems. The Doctors and Health Workers working at the grassroot level need to be sensitized properly.
