On the first day of his two-day visit to Sambalpur district, Jena inspected the functioning of various departments of the hospital.
His meeting with members of the Citizens Committee later in the day ended on a sour note with the latter complaining about the curtailment of the administrative and financial powers of the Dean.
During his stay at VIMSAR, the minister inaugurated a couple of medical wards, a Guest House and a hostel building meant for the senior resident doctors. He also laid the foundation stone for the Maternity and Child Healthcare block in the hospital estimated to cost Rs 21 crores.
