Petrol Pump Scam: Odisha man loses Rs 20 lakh, cyber fraudster arrested from Bihar
Satish Kumar, a resident of Apsarh village under Warisaliganj police station in Bihar, reportedly took a cheque for Rs 20 lakh from one Sarada Prasanna Routray, a resident of Palasuni in Bhubaneswar, by assuring him to set up an IndianOil fuel station.
Bhubaneswar: The Cyber Crime & Economic Offence Police of Bhubaneswar arrested a cyber-fraudster on charges of duping a man of Rs 20 lakh by promising him to facilitate to install an IndianOil fuel station.
While speaking to reporters, Bhubaneswar DCP Jagmohan Meena said that one Satish Kumar, a resident of Apsarh village under Warisaliganj police station in Bihar, reportedly took a cheque for Rs 20 lakh from one Sarada Prasanna Routray, a resident of Palasuni in Bhubaneswar, by assuring him to set up an IndianOil fuel station. Later, he fled to his native village.
After realizing that he fell prey to a scam, Sarada lodged a complaint at the Cyber Police Station in Bhubaneswar. Based on which Cyber Crime & Economic Offence Police of Bhubaneswar started an investigation into the crime.
A special cyber police team under the leadership of Sub Inspector Subhasree Nayak was formed. After tracking the accused’s details, the special team visited Bihar and conducted a raid with the coordination of Bihar Technical Inspector Balbir Singh and his 40-member squad.
After six days of operation, the team arrested Satish Kumar and recovered six mobile phones, bank passbooks, SIM cards, and laptops from his possession.
Further probe is underway.
