Puri: People in Puri district of Odisha are in panic over red ant infestation. The incident has taken place in the Sahadapada village under Balanga Police Station limits in the district.
As per reports, red ants are seen everywhere in this village. They are swarming in the entire village in houses, trees and bushes. Reportedly, even pesticides are not working to eradicate them.
Not only people, but also cows, horses, goats and sheep are not spared from the clutches of ants. The problem has made the people so problematic that they are fearing to walk in their houses, gardens, playgrounds and streets.
Reportedly, the part of the body is paining and swelling where the red ants are stinging. The situation has become such that people have difficulty even walking on the streets of the village. People are wrapping polythene in their feet to do away with the red ants.
They have sought immediate measures in this regard by the administration.
Red ants were first seen in Sahadapada 3 months ago. The poisonous saliva released after the ants bite causes wounds on the legs and hands of people.
Not only Sahadapada, but also the people of the neighbouring villages of Naruda and Parbatipar are facing the red ant fury.
