Patnagarh: Former DFO and ex-deputy range officer convicted in vigilance trap case

Balangir: In a significant anti-corruption development, Odisha Vigilance has secured the conviction of two former Senior Officers of Patnagarh Forest Division, Balangir, in a bribery case.
Pranab Kumar Mohanty, the former DFO, Kendu Leaf, Patnagarh Division, Balangir (retired) and Chittaranjan Dehury, the former Deputy Range Officer, Kendu Leaf, Ghasian South Range, Patnagarh, (retired) have been convicted by Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir.
The Court sentenced each convict to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and fine.
Both of them were charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance vide Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No.13 dt.08.06.2020 U/s 7/12 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 for demanding and taking a bribe of Rs 1,66,000 from a Range Officer under Patnagarh Range, Balangir for release of funds towards repair and maintenance cost of Kendu Leaf Phadies (Godowns).
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for stoppage of pension of Pranab Kumar Mohanty, and Chittaranjan Dehury following their conviction.
